Our ancestral healers, alchemist believed that the spirit of the plants, their medicinal properties, that were used in the distillation process were liberated from their prison of matter. Hence the reference to spirits. These spirits were then used in ritual and ceremony to heal and to unite those taking part in this ancient practice.
